Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I give my clients the option of how they want to begin therapy. Some like to set an appointment and have a session as soon as possible. Others like to have a short phone conversation prior to setting their first appointment with me or online from my website www.mentaledgetherapist.com. Others like for me to spend a bit more time getting to know them and what they wish to work on by submitting a handwriting sample. Whatever works for you for us to begin to discard, repair and/or replace those puzzle pieces of your life to create the picture you desire, is where we begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling with psychodynamic therapy being the main modality utlilize
Nationally Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist
Specializing in various modalties such as Brainspotting, Trauma Focused Therapy, Parts and Memory, Sports improvement and Substance Abuse.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Sliding scale begins at $100 per session, otherwise prices rang from 150-200.
How did you get started in this business?
Therapy fell in my lap when I realized I couldn't be a greater part of my patient's positive change as a nurse. Granted therapy is similar to the relationship between a coach and an athlete so both have to do their part but I love the idea of being able to take the journey with my client, supporting them to push forward to achieve optimal results.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Weight loss, PTSD, OCD, trauma, stress, anxiety and dissociation.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recently I have advocated for several of my oppressed clients. I have always believed that if something is wrong, you should stand up and be an additional voice because no one can hear a head shake.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your due diligence. While I feel even new therapist can do a wonderful job, they have had hours upon hours of training before they recevied their licenses. Don't be afraid to ask questions and check credentials. Finding the right counselor for you saves you time, money and eliminates the anxieties that come with finding the wrong therapist first.
