Dr.Frank Zhao, LAc,Ph.D is an expert of complementary and alternative medicine who has been practicing holistic Medicine for over 34 years. He graduated from Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and obtained his MD in TCM in 1984. He obtained his MD & PhD in Neurology from Tokyo Medical and Dental University. He was the director of Acupuncture Dept. in China, Research Fellow in the field of Herb and Acupuncture at Harvard Medical School. He is Vice Chairman of the World Manipulative Medical Association, professor of New York College of Health Professions, Board Member of United Alliance of NYS Licensed Acupuncturists. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

1. Bring all your medical examination reports, MRI, CT-scan, X-ray, etc and the List of your current medications (prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, herbs, vitamins, and supplements).
2. Eat a regular meal, don’t be hungry but don’t eat too much or drink alcohol right before or after your treatment.
3. Do not eat or drink color food or drink or brush your tongue coating, So Doctor can see your real tongue coating.
4. Don’t do a makeup, So Doctor can see your real facial, lips and nail color.
5. Wear loose clothes (pants can easily pull up over your knee).
6. Financial information: Your insurance information, photo ID, a referral from primary care provider if required by your insurance company, and money for parking. Please bring the cash or check because if use credit card we will charge Tax and processing fee.
7. Everyone’s insurance is different, so ask your insurance company about your specific plan. Whether your insurance plan covers the treatment by licensed Acupuncturist (It is different to the MD with Acupuncture license), how many times a year cover, etc.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
It is a technique of inserting metal fine filiform needles into the Acupuncture points (Acupoints) in the Superficial part of the body and manipulating needles with the aim of smoothing the flow of Qi and blood and balancing the Yin and Yang.

Asian Body work
Instead of using a needle, Acupressure use finger (such as thumb), palm, elbow, etc to stimulate the acupuncture points and meridian to treat various diseases. Based on traditional meridian concepts, the body's vital energy (Qi and blood, circulating through a network of channels (known as meridians) and provide the Zhang organs and Fu organs and tissues and sensory organs nutrition and energy in order to make their function normally perform.

Gliding cupping
Cupping refers to an ancient Chinese practice in which the cups applied to the skin and the localized suction in the cup by vacuum (using heat or by suctioning out air) so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is gently drawn into and held in the cup for 5-15 min. In the gliding cupping, the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle. Cupping may produce red/purple color on the cupping area that may remain for 1-5 days.
