Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we address the needs and what type of services they are looking for then we determine what the next step is for getting them prepared (usually for payroll). We then begin a step by step process to get all the necessary paperwork in order to begin the payroll, bookkeeping, and/or taxes. Often times we will assist with acquiring tax ID numbers is the client is not comfortable doing themselves
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 25+ years experience in the accounting industry and a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. I am also registered with the IRS as an electronic tax preparer, ERO
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have a standard pricing system for tax preparation where the initial cost of each return is just $87 and then depending on the number of forms needed to complete the return, there is a small per form fee. Most returns do not exceep $130, even for businesses.
How did you get started in this business?
I decided to start my own business when my 2 children were little so I could spend more time with them. Since that time, my business has grown and been steady throughout.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with a lot of startup companies because my rates are much lower than a CPA or bookkeeping office. I only have 2 employees so I can keep my fees lower by having less expenses myself. I work with companies from 1 employee to 40 and in many different occupations. I can cater to my clients better because I know each one on a more personal level and I work directly with them for all their needs.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Try to find someone who has been established for a while and see if you can get some current references. If you are looking for tax preparation, make sure they are registered with the IRS and if you even have anyone prepare your tax returns but isn't willing to put their credentials on them, then you might want to reconsider their services.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Exactly what services they will need like, accounting, taxes, payroll processing, or just software training.
If they are a new business, see what the company is willing to do for you without nickel & diming you. Can they help you get your tax ID numbers, organization of your books, assist with payroll documents and forms, etc.
Exactly what are their charges and what services will you receive for those fees.
