The ability to build a network of more than 250 P.R. and corporate communications professionals that give me access to more than 1,000 IT executives who I am able to interview about Agile, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Deep Learning/Natural Language Processing/Robotic Process Automation, Big Data, Cloud, Databases, DevOps, Integration, IoT, Java, Microservices/Containers, Open Source, Performance and Monitoring, Security, and Web and Mobile Development. I am able to stay on the cutting edge of all of the transitions taking place in the IT industry.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look at past case studies/use cases to see what kinds of problems they have solved.
Do you trust them? Do you have confidence they can help accomplish your goals?
Do you see any inconsistencies in how they present themselves in person versus online (website, LinkedIn profile, Twitter)?
Look at their recommendations on LinkedIn to learn more about the type of person they are. If they don't have at least five recommendations, be wary.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is the business problem you are trying to solve?
What is your definition of success with regards to whether or not the problem has been solved?
Are you open to other ideas that seem unconventional or that you have not thought of?
Are you willing to implement the recommended action or pay the consultant to implement the action? This will affect the cost of the engagement.
