Nothing is more exciting than solving customer problems. It is gratifying when working with customers and see a solution evolve and have the customer say, “ This was easier than I thought” or “Wow, I am so relieved to have this problem solved”.

    Dann was incredible! My business financial records were a mess because I had been improperly using Quickbooks online for 2+ years. I didn’t understand accounting, needed help cleaning up my books and wanted training in order to handle the financial records myself. After having wasted hundreds of dollars on supposed ‘Quickbooks experts’ who billed $80/hour and knew little more than I did, I found Dann through Thervo. He responded immediately to my request for help and we scheduled our first meeting at my business two days later. We spent an hour reviewing my records and discussing my objective for hiring him. The next day he contacted me with a proposal in which he correctly identified the specific issues causing my problems and recommended a strategy for revamping my entire accounting system. Having earned an MBA from Harvard and having previously taught college accounting courses, Dann was expertly qualified, likely overqualified, to address my issues. I was AMAZED! Within two weeks my books were in balance and I knew how to generate and analyze profit and loss statements.     Every consulting engagement is different.   Most will include some of the following:

    1.   Clearly describe the problem.  Often different individuals look at the same problem and describe it differently.

    2.   Lay out a plan including definition of the problem, the steps needed to accomplish the solution, and a schedule of activities with approximate time frames.

    3.   Ask many questions.  Invariably, questions lead to more questions.  The original definition of the problem often changes as we progress toward the solution.

    4.   Employ Active Listening.  If several individuals are involved, we prefer to ask questions of each independently.

    5.   Research to discover how other organizations may have approached a similar problem.

    6.   Conduct short weekly meetings covering achievements, the schedule and anticipated conclusion dates.

    We have advanced degrees and many years of consulting.  We don't like retirement.  After years of accumulating knowledge and experience, we like to call on our background to help others. 

    To us, solving probolems is fun.  Our fee structure reflects we don't do this for the money, rather for the fun of seeing our client's smile as difficult business problems begin to fade.  

    Our fee structure starts at $25/hour for sole proprietorships.  Our fees increase if annual revenues exced $100,000.

    Be willing to listen.  Clients often know their business better than anyone else.  Possibly too well.  A consultant should provide a non-biased outside prospective that can broaden your view of the situation and lead toward problem resolution. 

    Describe their problem or issue on paper.  This process helps both the client and the consultant begin an engagement with a common base understanding of what is to be solved.
