About

Dr. Katrina Ostmeyer is a clinical psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who specializes in working with individuals in the home and community setting. Rather than keep an office, she chooses to meet with clients via telehealth services when appropriate or drives to meet with clients in their homes, schools, day programs, and other settings. She is licensed as both a psychologist and behavior analyst in the state of Kansas and works across the state to provide behavioral and mental health consultation and therapy. She specializes in working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorders, ADHD, and behavioral disorders such as oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder. She works with the individual and supports in the natural environment to evoke change and help maintain progress.

When she is not providing these clinical services, she spends time supervising clinical child psychology students at the University of Kansas and working on research focused on increasing the accessibility of evidence-based mental and behavioral health services.

Dr. Ostmeyer accepted a position as the Director of Community Research and Clinical Services at Integrated Behavioral Technologies, Inc. (IBT), a small non-profit targeted towards increasing access to evidence-based services for children, upon completing her PhD and advanced to the position of Associate Executive Director in 2015. Within a few years she realized that her administrative position continued to pull her away from the clinical work and research that she loved. She moved from this position in August 2018 to focus on research and practice.

Dr. Ostmeyer works with a wide variety of clients including children and adults with a variety of diagnoses. While she does provide generalist mental health services, her speciality lies in working with children and adolescents with severe externalizing symptoms and/or obsessesive compulsive disorder.

There are several websites that list what questions to ask your therapist during or prior to your first appointment. I believe the list at the following link is a good representation of important questions to ask your therapist.
