Shawna Benson is a licensed and registered clinical health service psychologist working in Blaine and Champlin, Minnesota for Soul Work Counseling. She has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and has been licensed since 2005.
Shawna works with adolescents and adults. She primarily works with individuals and families through psychotherapy and counseling, but also conducts pre-bariatric weight loss surgery psychological evaluations.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We have an on-line therapy portal that clients can use for easy scheduling and to access the Intake Paperwork (which also can be downloaded from the Forms page off of our website on www.soulworkcounseling.com/forms/).
The first meeting is a 1-hour Intake Session to gather information and review your Intake Packet. We will need to discuss your insurance and/or payment options at that first visit as well, unless you were quoted a cash rate through Thervo.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Shawna has a PsyD, LP, which is a Dortorate in Clinical Psychology, and she is a Licensed Psychologist (LP, 4564) in the state of Minnesota.
All of our providers are either licensed in their individual fields in Minnesota (LPCC - Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor; LMFT - Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; or LICSW - Licensed Indepedent Clinical Social Worker) or under clinical supervision with licensed providers.

This may depend on your insurance, including finding out your deductible, co-pays, and/or co-insurance.
We take most common medical insurances found in Minnesota. We can also put a credit card on file for easy payments for out of pocket costs, if any.
