Swon Tax Preparation
About
At Swon Tax Preparation, we provide tax and advisory services that are customized to meet your unique personal or business tax goals. Most tax preparation companies have a narrow focus--making sure that your individual or business returns are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. In addition to those services, we provide an entire suite of financial tools and advice from bookkeeping to retirement planning. Our office has a combined 40+ years of experience in tax and financial planning. Let us help you not only prepare your taxes but also prepare you for greater financial security! We enjoy being problem solvers--whether that involves figuring out how to maximize your individual refund or helping small business owners create tax and financial strategies to help them grow.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our typical process starts with a free initial consultation to help understand your tax needs so we can best craft a solution. Bringing in current tax documentation, or returns from prior years, helps in this goal. At the end of the meeting, we'll have a plan to proceed and a quote for services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been tax and finance services since 1999 and am registered tax preparer with the Internal Revenue Service. I am also Series 7 and Series 66 licensed.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our standard rate for tax preparation is $140/hour, with our bookkeeping and tax consultation services priced at $40/hour. A fairly standard return can run in the $180-$210, depending on what all needs to be done.
How did you get started in this business?
As a small business owner, I was frustrated with my lack of knowledge of taxes and the minimal advice I was receiving from my own accountant. It's a large part of why I enjoy what I do - I want to help my clients understand their taxes and be put in a better tax situation.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We've worked with customers ranging from individuals to companies with 50+ employees. We've also worked with non-profits and estates to prepare their taxes as well.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was able to help a new business owner save over $20,000 just by changing her incorporation status.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Communication is the most important thing - being clear with what you need and expect. Ideally, finding a preparer/accountant who will ask the questions you hadn't considered and is at least somewhat proactive in trying to help you navigate your taxes.
