About

I believe that my genuine respect and empathy for the individuals that I work with comes through immediately, and when people understand that they are the ones "driving" in therapy, they begin to utilize their own strengths sooner and with more enthusiasm. For more details regarding my approach, please go to www.acompasswithin.com to read about my treatment philosophy.

For me, there is nothing more exciting and fulfilling than watching someone recognize that they have the ability to do far more than they realize. In truth, I don't "fix" people (they aren't "broken"), I simply point to their strengths, if I am fortunate enough to discover them. I truly enjoy taking that journey with them.

I utilize Cognitive behavioral therapy, and Motivational interviewing primarily, but also a number of other evidence based practices.

I have a background in philosophy that many of my patients have found both helpful and enjoyable.

I would love to meet and get a chance to know if I can help you as well.

Frequently asked questions

At the intake, I explain the importance of confidentiality and how the number one factor regarding whether or not someone gets something out of therapy is the relationship between the two of us. If someone is not comfortable with me, we provide referrals so that they might find someone with whom they are comfortable. My first concern is their ability to get the help they need, regardless of whom it is from.
I have multiple degrees in Psychology and philosophy, culminating in a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University.
We are predominantly a private pay clinic (due to what I feel are added benefits to the individual being seen) and my services are $225.00 a session, but I will work on a sliding scale for financial hardship. I do also accept some BCBS and some Aetna plans.
I work with everyone from severe and persistent mental difficulties like schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, through virtually all diagnoses including depression and anxiety. I have worked extensively with adolescents (15 and up), substance abuse disorders, and individuals identifying as LGBTQ+. I also do life-coaching, should someone find that they want to improve their life but do not necessarily meet criteria for a DSM-V diagnosis.
Make sure that you are comfortable speaking to them and that you feel that you can trust them. This is paramount.
Can I cope with this and have a good quality of life without seeking a professional?
