Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a new client is referred, I do a short interview by phone to make sure I offer the resources/services they need. If we agree on a plan for therapy, we schedule a new appointment. At this time, I also clarify insurance information, finding out if their insurance requires pre-certification. I give them directions to my office for our appointment. When a client comes in they are seated in my waiting room until their session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Social Work from Wayne State University and a Social Service Bachelors from Pacific Union College in California. I am licensed in Michigan.
I am also an international coach with a certificate in coaching.
65% of private counseling in Michigan is done by masters prepared social workers.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I take almost all insurances but some of my clients pay out of pocket. I always consider private pay.
How did you get started in this business?
I worked as a volunteer as a teen for hotlines, working with runaways, as a volunteer probation officer and went on mission trips and loved helping people and doing social service.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Those suffering with relationships problems, grief, depression and anxiety.
