We are a plan first, fee-based financial planning firm. We believe that if your only goal low cost investing, then it may be more cost effective doing it yourself online. However, if you are looking for financial leadership in what matters to you then we should talk to see if we are a good fit.
In addition, as CFP's we stricly adhere to a fiduciary standard and make recomendations based on what we would do if we were in your situation.
I find that I value the relationship that is created with those I serve.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our process begins be first conducting a "What's Important" meeting. In this meeting we will determine if we are the right form for you and if you are the right relationship for us. This meeting will then determine our course of action if we mutually decide to work together.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Both advisors in the firm have obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP designation).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our practive is fee-based. This allows us to charge either a flat planning fee or a percentage of assets under management.
How did you get started in this business?
Benchmark Financial Design was beagn in 1999 after working in the financial services area for Spartan Stores, Inc. and numerous years in the financial planning field.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with individuals and businesses. While we have no account minimums, our relationships are about 85% personal and 15% business.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The most recent event that I am fond of is leading several relationships into retirement. This has included leading them to live as they wish without the worry of debt or income.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The role of a true financial planner has to be able to understand your matters of importance and lead you to a solution. If you only filter is cost or service you will not always get what you pay for. However, an in-depth conversation at the beginning of any relationship will outline the parameters for success.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
"What keeps me up and night?" and "If money were no object, how would I live my life?". We use these two primary questions to decide if we are a good fit for each other.
