About
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am goal oriented. Real Problems have Real Solutions. My philosophy as a Psychologist is that all human beings suffer emotionally from a variety of life problems, i.e. anxiety, depession, stress, marital problems.
Using a cognitive behavioral approach, I seek to assist clients in getting in touch with their resources so that they can solve these problems. I believe that we can live our very best when we are in touch with 1)Choices, 2)Priorities, and 3) Responsibiity. Individuals who master these skill sets have significant satisfying lives.
The human condition is so fascinating. I enjoy helping individuals/couples develop a more mature, meaningful, and productive lives capable of dealing more effectively with the inevitable stresses in life, i.e. anxiety, depression, and relationship problems, etc. I particularly like bringing my wonderful Labrador Retriever (Maya) to work every day. She is a good co-therapist.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I don't like the word customer. I am a Clinical Psychogist in private practice for over 25 years and view the people I work with as clients. I always do an intake evaluation which is 5 pages long which can be done on my web site (www.drronrice.com) under resources and then "clinical intake form". You can type your responses, print it and bring it to your first appointment or print out the form and write out your responses. This provides valuable information for me to access your problem(s) and begin thinking about how to be most helpful to you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I work primarily with three primary problems of the human condition: 1) Anxiety Disorders, 2) Depression, and 3) Relationship Problems. I have a Doctoral Degree (PHD) in Clinical Psychology. I have been designated a Clinical Fellow with the Anxiety & Depression Association of America. I am also a member of the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists, the Michigan Inter-Professionnal Association on Marriage, Divorce, & the Family, Inc. and the Association of Humanistic Psychology.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My Clinic Fee is $150/hour. I deal with two primary insurance companies: 1) Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan PPO, and 2) Aetna. For those individuals who have other insurance companies where I am NOT a provider, I give a reduced fee of $100/hour. This rate would also apply to those who do not have insurance.
How did you get started in this business?
I became interesed in Psychology as a student at a University. My interest grew as I took severl psychology courses and the rest is history. After my B.S degree in psychology, I continued my education by getting Master's degree in Psychology. For the next 12 years I worked in an outpatient Clinic as a Limited Licensed Psychologist. Then after these 12 years, I went back to school for an additional 4 years to obtain a Doctoral Degree in Psychology. Since then I have been in private practice.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with individuals suffering from a variety of problems of an emotional nature. This includes but is not limited to the following problems: 1) Anxiety, 2) Depression, and 3)relationship problems
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I am biased that the best couselors are Psychologists with a Doctoral degree. I also think that one should seek someone with many years of experience.
