JAM Tax Advisory & Business Consulting
About
Seasoned 15 year CPA with vast experience dealing with all things tax and accounting related. I can help with preparing all types of tax returns, both business and personal. In addition, I can assist with tax planning and research engagements, solving back tax matters, and help improve business processes and accounting related matters.
I enjoy meeting and working with clients to resolve tax and accounting related matters. Once we have resolved the immediate needs, I work with clients to educate them on various matters to help improve their understanding of the issues. I feel this makes the relationship work much better, and allows me to become a partner in working with them to ensure we are doing the best possible job we can do.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, I would meet with a new client, either in-person or via skype/webex, and review their unique tax or accounting situation. From there, I would typically ask to review at least one year, but preferably two year's of tax returns to make sure I have a good handle on what all is involved. Lastly, I will send them an engagement letter that will clearly define the services I will provide for them, and from there we ensure the work gets done. We are always responsive to our clients calls, emails, texts, or any other messages, and do our best to respond same day to questions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have roughly 15 years working in the public accounting industry. In addition, I am licensed in the state of Maryland as a CPA, and am a member of both the AICPA and MACPA. Most recently I finished my Master's in Taxation degree, which has furthered my understanding of both federal and state tax laws.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Typically we try and fit our services to our clients needs, so there really is no one price fits all system.
How did you get started in this business?
In 2010, I decided to pursue my goal of creating an accounting and tax firm that was more modern and progressive than ones that I worked for in the past. The goal was to provide an environment that utiliized technology to it's fullest to provide more value added service, versus just the typical compliance services that a lot of tax and accounting firms do.
What types of customers have you worked with?
In addition to helping individual clients with tax planning, preparation and collection issues, I have worked with businesses in the following industries: Start-ups, construction and contractors, manufacturing, maritime, professional are just to name a few types.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I worked with a new client to put in place better policies and procedures to improve financial reporting. Upon me reviewing their business structure and operations, I found out there were some major tax savings being missed in the normal year-end preparation. This engagement allowed me to improve current financial reporting, but also allowed me to find new ways for them to save money on taxes. I find that the more I know and learn about a client, but better I can do to improve processes and tax planning.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a company in your area of expertise?
Ask lot's of questions to make sure you are comfortable working with them, and they seem to have experience in working with companies/people like yourself. Make sure they have some sort of certifications, CPA, EA, etc..
What questions should customers think through before talking to companies about their needs?
Clearly define what you are looking to get out of the engagement, and start there. If the person that you are working with is good at what they do, there are probably many other ways they can help, but it always good to know and clearly define the engagement, for both the company as well as yourself.
