Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to sit down for a complimentary consult to assist the prospective client in determining if they are on track for retirement. Upon review, we update them on tools that available to meet their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over a decade and a half in the financial field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We receive commission from the profits of companies for solutions we find for clients. This allows clients to stay fee-free and allows their hard-earned money to keep worrking hard for them.
How did you get started in this business?
Although I had an excellent formal education, the school of hard knocks introduced me to the dangers of failing to plan for the unexpecteds. I was both a orphan in my childhood and a young widow by my mid-thirties. Life doesn't always go as planned and if people don't make contingency plans, major financial hardship can befall people in the blink of an eye. This is expecially true for retirees, most of whom are making changes they cannot go back on.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Primarily people over the age of 50 years old, who are seeking to strategically grow their retirement funds, with minimal or zero risk of loss.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I lost a dear client and in helping his widow, also a client of mine, I determined that there were going to be severe tax ramifications in retirement. We were able to strategize the claims and redesign her retirement plan to optimize her ability to avoid unreasonable taxation.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Talk to clients of theirs. Make sure they aren't "one trick ponies" who always push one product/company. Avoid solutions based upon math equations - your life has probably not always been normal, assume unexpecteds will happen. Excercise your rights as a consumer and demand complete written transparency of compensation.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How comfortable are they with market volatility? Have they personally evaluated their exposure? Are they relying on someone else to watch out for them? Are they ready to be educated and be personally involved in protecting their own future?
