About

As a remote bookkeeper I immediately save a small business owner an expense of a full time employee, benefits or employee taxes. I charge my clients a flat monthly fee which varies based on activity and client revenue. I provide my clients various activities based on their needs from inputting data into QuickBooks nd doing bank reconciliations to providing financial statements for management use and analyzing them for client growth.

I have been in the accounting profession more than a decade. I received my BA in Accounting and before opening my business I worked for 3 area accounting firms. I ventured out on my own to give clients a personal touch service which I found lacking in the public accounting firms. I feel it is important for each client to know they are important to me because they need my experience and knowledge, not because they are going to improve my bottom line.

My objective is to share my knowledge and resources to improve their bottom line.

    Frequently asked questions

One of the first things I do after signing a client for bookkeeping services, is set them up in my client portal software - SmartVault. This portal is the most secure way of transferring information between my client and myself. It is also the forum I use, after completing account reconciliations, to post their Balance Sheet and Income Statement monthly for easy access for my client.

The first month, with a new client, usually has a lot of communication - preferably via email so there is a papertrail to the questions I would have. I try to provide updates to the client of my progress, in cases of a clean up.

I find it takes a month or two of getting into a good routine with a new client - for them to be comfortable with my system and for me to receive the information I need monthly to carry out my services.

I have a BA in accounting, I am QuickBooks Online certified as well as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. I completed a course in bookkeeping through Bookkeeper Business Launch in 2017 and I am presently enrolled through the same organization for certification in bookkeeping which I anticipate gaining in early 2019.

For tax preparation services I am enrolled in Tax Business Launch and I am partnered with Palmer Financial Services in Chelmsford, MA.

I have a flat monthly rate for my services. This varies from client to client. Factors in determining my fee include the number of bank accounts to reconcile and their monthly activity, business credit cards to reconcile and their monthly activity, whether invoicing services are needed and how many, filing of sales taxes, review of financial statements with client - just to name a few.

I began as an accounting clerk doing data input and over the 8 years I was at this firm I completed my BA in Accounting and was promoted to staff accountant. At the next firm I worked at, my duties were similar but the software used was QuickBooks. I found this to be a friendly software and more utilized by small businesses. My last firm saw me managing the Accounting Department, overseeing the accounts of approximately 15 - 20 clients. I started my own business after the owner/founder of the company passed away.

I have worked with a variety of clients, in all sizes of business. I have worked with dog groomers, dentists, construction businesses, auto repair businesses, electricians, hair stylists to name a few. The revenue has ranged from under $100,00/year to over $500,000/year.

One of the best feelings I have is when I can clean up a client's books and the end results are reflected in an accurate Balance Sheet and Income Statement.

Educating a business owner on proper classification of their expenses and being able to show them their success or areas of growth to focus on is very satisfying.

I would tell a custmer to be careful not to hire based on fee. Of course it's natural to try and spend as little as possible but remember you get what you pay for. There are bookkeepers out there who will charge less than I do but take into consideration of the services provided. Is that less expensive person just going to input data an not be able to answer their questions? Is that less expensive person able to analyze financials and have knowledge of tax benefiting classifications? Does that less expensive person have resources to refer you to for other areas of your business?

The financial management of your business is very important - don't skimp on price, use my services as an investment in your business.

I would suggest customers think about what information they want to get out of their financial reports- do they want to see this year compared to last year? Do they want to see information based on like companies in the area? Do they want their information compiled in such a way to have less stress for tax time? Do they want daily, weekly or monthly balances of their books?
