Dr. Marga Zarraga is 2021 Family Physician of the Year of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians. She is the Founder and Medical Director of Genera Personal Primary Care, one of the pioneer direct primary care practices. Her unique expertise in #Aruga whole-body medicine which is the deep essence of caring for another person by empowering people with a #self-care mindset. Her experience as a physician covers a breadth of areas from health, wellness, stress reduction, weight management, anxiety, depression, meditation and a balanced mindset.

Dr. Zarraga immigrated to the US from the Philippines. Her medical school, the University of the Philippines Manila,

Dr. Zarraga was accepted as a junior clinical fellow at the Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital Cardiac Surgery ICU in Boston and served in one of oldest healthcare institution in New York City, The Brooklyn Hospital Center and NYU Langone Tisch Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. She served as a research collaborator for the Massachusetts General Hospital Section on Congenital Heart Disease in Boston.

She scratched an itch to join the academe right out of Family Medicine residency and was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where she was awarded a “Faculty Education Incentive Award” in 2013.

By 2014, Dr. Zarraga chose to gain more experience working with the elderly and communities of Massachusetts through Harvard Beth Israel Deaconess Healthcare and the American Family Care Urgent Care network of centers located in Waltham and the Northshore.

Committed to care more than ever, she began her journey into private practice exploring new care models until she opened Genera Health Direct.

Aside from running Genera, Dr. Zarraga also serves as a Medical Director and subacute hospitalist in LifeCare Center of the SouthShore and a collaborating physician of the CVS Minute Clinic.

Dr. Margarita is adjunct Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health in Umass Medical School and a member of Direct Primary Care New England and the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce.

Since the Covid situation erupted, she also serves with the Covid 19 Action Coalition and FeedTheFight Boston.

She is a wife and mother, living in Needham, Massachusetts with her husband, David and their two boys.
