About
Wendy (Weihui) Li is the licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in MA. She got her Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) from New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA, the earliest acupuncture school in the US.
Before the study of acupuncture, Wendy got her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tsinghua University in China. She further pursued her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University. Then, she worked as postdoc research fellow in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and later on in Massachusetts General Hospital, both are teaching hospital of Harvard University.
Wendy's interest in acupuncture is the blend of her deep understanding of Chinese Philosophy and her science background. She believes that while western medicine has been responsible for tremendous success in health care, there are limits in providing treatments for more chronic conditions. Acupuncture, having been caring Chinese for thousands of years, demonstrates amazing effectiveness for a number of clinical conditions. However, the mechanisms why acupuncture works haven't been thoroughly studied. While running a clinic, she keeps doing research on acupuncture with modern science.
