About
I worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 20+ years. I was self-employed myself for many years and I have been preparing mine and my mother's tax returns for over 35 years.
I always loved doing my job. I have worked in many aspects of the IRS. I am not only experienced in tax preparation but I also worked with correspondence and penalties.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to make initial contact verbally with a phone call so the client can hear my voice and get a "first impression".
I usually will receive all documents by text and email unless the client lives close and wishes to come in person to let me make copies of the needed documents.
I have questionnaires depending on your filing status for the information that I need as well as the tax documents and copies of the front of a picture ID. These are usually completed via email.
I have a contract that details both the responsiblities of myself and my client with a set fee.
My fee is set by whether or not you are self-employed. My fee also includes one state return. There are times when a second return is required and that is an extra $15.00.

I worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for 20+ years.
I worked with tax preparations, corrections, correspondence and penalty abatement (removal) requests.

My first client, Bobby, came over with his girlfriend. I finished her taxes in approximatly a half and hour. He was totally amazed that I had completed her so quickly.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Speak with them in person or at least over the phone so you can get an impression of what they know. Ask many questions until you are comfortable.
Don't pay until your return is ready to file.
Make sure you give all information to your preparer before you start so there are no extra fees for forgetting things.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Is this something I can do by myself and see if I can find someone to verify my work?
Do I feel insecure enough about completing my own taxes even though I am using a free tax software from the IRS website?
I cannot do this myself but how much is it worth to me to know that my taxes are filed correctly and that the preparer will stand behind their work?
Are they clear about their pricing or do I feel like they are hiding some unknown fees?
How long have they been doing this type of work, what is their experience level.
