I focus on artisan and professional business owners. Most of those who have a special skill and the vision to professionalize it don't have the same level of understanding about business.
That focus includes advice, planning, education, and actual bookkeeping and tax preparation. I can do your payroll and other taxes besides just income.
I was an insurance auditor for thirty years beginning in the early 1970s, and started doing individual taxes in 1992. My expereince in auditing was concentrated on small, mom and pop businesses. The scope of this concentration ranged from remodeling contractors to auto dealerships, retail stores to small farms.
I have happy clients in all phases of business, from start-up to mature organizations. But always with a view toward making their business do better.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always begin with a one to one consultation to learn what the customer needs and wants. There is never a charge for this consult. If it develops that it makes sense for us to work together, then we discuss the details of the engagement.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by the type of return--individual, business or trust. For ongoing engagements--payroll and accounting--I charge monthly based on the services needed by the client.
How did you get started in this business?
I was an insurance auditor for over 25 years, auditing small businesses like mom and pop retail stores, small contracting firms, auto dealers, and the like. I've been doing taxes since 1992, using the experience working with businesses to provide help with tax savings and accounting practices to improve their results.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Home services companies, auto body shops, therapists of several kinds, retail stores are my primary customers.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
A potential customer should look at the problems they have faced, or anticipate facing, making sure they understand what strengths they have themselves. This helps the pro determine if the customer is likely to work well with the pros own strengths. They also should not be afraid to interview several pros in the same area with a view toward choosing the best fit for them.
