HIRE ONE MEDIATOR INSTEAD OF TWO ATTORNEYS
After litigating in family courts for more than twenty years I decided to stop being part of a system that tears families apart. Instead, I work to help families work together to help their children preserve their one and only childhood. Please visit www.avoidcourt.info to see services offered.
FLAT FEES. FREE ZOOM CONSULTATION
While divorce attorneys must assume there is a good guy and a bad guy (and, of course, they represent the "good" guy), a mediator KNOWS she has two good guys in front of her.
After practicing divorce law for more than 20 years, helping couples divorce with dignity is the most rewarding work I have ever done.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
IDMG offers a free Zoom consultation to introduce the couple to Mediator Carol Romine and to answer questions about the Pro-Se Mediation process.
Please visit our website www.avoidcourt.info to see the entire process from beginning to end.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Carol was an attorney for more than 20 years and recently retired in good standing because her mediation practice took over her law practice. During her years as an attorney she became a family law litigator, family law collaborator, family law mediator, parent coordinator, mediation instructor, and guardian ad litem.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We do. IDMG charges a flat fee that covers all of our charges including emails, phone calls, zoom meetings, zoom mediations, organization of your debts and assets, and the drafting of your agreements. The flat fees are as follows:
Married with children: $4500
Married more than 3 years without children: $3500
Married less than 3 years without children: $2500
How did you get started in this business?
Carol speaking: I knew there had to be a better way to get a divorce. I think I found it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Carol worked with all kinds of people as an attorney.
As a mediator, I have worked with clients who know they want to divorce with dignity.
This process is not appropriate for all couples. Specifically, Carol will not do pro-se mediation with couples:
1. if there has been a history of physical abuse,
2. if either party has been diagnosed with a personality disorder, or
3. if either party believes the other would hide assets, doctor documents, or otherwise engage in bad faith behavior.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of so many things I can't list just one. Here are my favorite things:
1. Getting to know my clients and knowing I offer a valuable service that will benefit them.
2. Crocheting
3. Playing the ukulele and singing songs from the 30's and 40's. I will play and sing at nursing homes when I retire.
4. Playing with Gertie, my Irish Wolfhound, Lexie, a dog of unknown heritage, and Lilly, an 8 week old Balinese kitten (who is not in the least afraid of her big sisters).
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Take advantage of free consultations before you make a decision.
Ask what the mediator's AVERAGE fees are for couples similar to you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Make a complete list of your debts and assets (regardless of whether they are jointly or singly owned or owed). You don't have to have decisions made in advance - that is what the mediator helps you to do.
