About

I offer bodywork, which is focused on posture and body alignment. Pain is viewed as a symptom that can stem from dysfunction. This is why my I don't chase pain to whatever part of the body is hurting at that specific time. The goal is bring the body back into alignment with bodywork and massage applied to specific areas determined by what you tell me and by physical assessment prior to each visit.

I enjoy the interaction with my clients, and I find immense gratification in both seeing and hearing about their progress.

Frequently asked questions

Clients will complete an intake form consisting of contact information and medical history and sign informed consent to receive treatment. Sessions begin with a brief visual assessment of posture followed by a hands-on assessment of range of motion, posture and gait (how you walk). Based on the assessments and what you tell me, I apply techniques to specific areas to help bring your body back into balance.

I spent several decades working in the food service with a better part of that in management. My greatest enjoyment is interacting with people, and this is where I excelled. Working in a kitchen, especially when trying to race the clock, was not. It was time for a change.

My father encouraged me to visit the healthcare arena. He was expecting something along the lines of nursing, but I knew I wanted a career in the therapy field. Having helped with my mother's home exercises after she broke her neck in an auto accident (she went from wheel chair to walking with a walker) and giving my father backrubs growing up (because it helped with his back pain), I already knew the power of touch. When I saw a degree program in massage therapy I jumped at the chance.

I started with a goal of providing everything from soft relaxation work to deep tissue and trigger point release. Hot stones & towels were incorporated as well as aromatherapy. As I continued, I found that most of my clients were coming to me for relief and preventative reasons rather than just to relax. My continuing education choices reflected that, and today I almost specifically work with bringing alignment to the body to help prevent chronic pain stemming from dysfunction.

First of all, find someone that you are comfortable with. You are going to be spending the better part of an hour or longer with this person's hands on you. You are less likely to experience optimum benefits if you aren't comfortable with your therapist.

Secondly, know what kind of work your massage therapist performs before you make your appointment. Most massage therapists either specialize or have a stronger skill set in certain techniques or types of massage (modalities). Talk with your therapist, take advantage of any consultation time they offer, and make sure what they offer is what you need and want.
