What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Well, make sure he or she is willing to sign the return at the bottom of it which is the paid preparer section of the tax return and that you feel comfortable and confident in their ability to assist with preparing your tax returns and don't let the price of getting your tax return done divert you from the bigger picture and that is the information you are given someone is too important to give to someone you don't know like and trust enough to prepare your return and ask questions concerning your tax return situation to see if they can answer your question to your satisfaction and that they make sense to you!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think about the specific concerns you have about your tax return and get a clear understanding of the price and the time it will take to finish the job and make sure they explain what they did in preparing the tax return so you know exactly what they did to get the job done and follow your first mind if you don't feel comfortable with the preparer find someone who you do feel comfortable with doing your tax return.
