Ginny Kington, Psy.D.

I am now offering all online services due to COVID-19. I was trained as a generalist in university counseling centers, which allowed me to gain a wide range of clinical experiences. My specialties include chronic illness, trauma, new parents/postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression. My approach to therapy is integrative which means that I use techniques from multiple psychological theories. I tailor my style to meet the needs of individual clients based on the concerns that they bring to therapy and their goals for treatment. During your first appointment, we will discuss your goals and expectations for therapy and what I believe may be the best way to approach working on your concerns. Although my approach may differ depending on your concerns, I always place importance upon the therapeutic relationship, and I strongly value any feedback that you may have about our relationship and your experience in therapy.

I have wanted to be a psychologist for as long as I can remember. I was drawn to the profession because I hoped to better understand why people think, feel, and behave the ways that they do. While I did most of my training in university counseling centers, I knew that I wanted to go into private practice after I was licensed. I craved the flexibility and challenge of self-employment. I opened my private practice in 2010, and have never looked back. I enjoy getting to engage in a variety of work activities with ideal clients. I also love working for myself, and would not have it any other way.
