We have a wonderful group of talented and conscientious counselors at Crosby Counseling Center. We are honored to have the opportunity to help individuals, couples or families work to understand themselves and develop the healthy coping skills necessary to navigate life's difficulties.
Jessica Crosby: Jessica has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings working with addiction, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral modification, anxiety, panic, OCD, PTSD, LGBTQIA+ issues, depression, women's issues, and couples and family counseling. She is the president of the board of directors for the Postpartum Society of Florida.
"The first step in therapy is for me to learn all about you and what has brought you to a point in your life where you are seeking help. I will ask you to tell me all about yourself, your life, and your current situation. I will work hard to listen for patterns and make connections between your past and your current situation. Through this process I will be able to develop a comprehensive treatment plan and have a good understanding of what therapeutic modality would work best for you. We will work together from that point forward collaboratively and establish a strong and mutually trusting therapeutic relationship.
My primary goal is to provide you with relief and improvement in functioning and well-being. I will work closely with you while we help to move you to a more positive and functional situation. We will work together collaboratively to relieve your distress and establish a strong and mutually trusting therapeutic relationship. The most important part of the experience will be to instill and foster hope, to help you see positive change, and to make sure that you feel supported."
James Sullivan: James has a master's degree in healthcare management and worked in the mental health field as a director at an inpatient mental health hospital for over ten years. Before that he worked as a case manager at a nonprofit community mental health crisis center. He also had his Florida law enforcement certification and has trained law enforcement on handling mental health difficulties. He is a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer and a Baker Act/Marchman Act trainer.
"I provide life coaching and couples coaching and follow the principles of nondiagnostic counseling. I eschew traditional, rigid approaches to psychology and treat my clients as whole individuals, outside the limiting structures of diagnostic criteria. I rely on establishing strong, reliable bonds with my clients. I am passionately invested in treating patients holistically, understanding that we are all more than simple labels. While suffering is both serious and painful, it can be something we work past and in such a way that it does not define and limit us.
My greatest strength is creativity tempered with compassion. Each of us is unique. Why should we rely on cookie-cutter therapeutic efforts when that creative impulse and appreciation of human individuality will yield better results? By working with you, we generate tools tailored to you. This journey into growth and happiness is a tremendously challenging opportunity to overcome our own suffering and become our best selves. I am prepared to accompany you on that journey and are committed to that best self."
Iris Curry: Iris Curry received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida A&M University in 1994 Master’s Degree in Counseling Education from the University of South Florida in 2000 and became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 2009. Being a counselor requires taking on many different roles. These range from unconditional supporter all the way to frank critic. Everyone is unique and often requires a blend of multiple approaches. This ensures that counseling is always dynamic and interesting for us.
However, the best part of counseling is instilling and fostering hope and watching an individual grow past their expected boundaries and flourish.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our primary goal is to provide you with symptomatic relief and improvement in functioning and well-being. We believe that people have the ability to improve their circumstances, symptoms, feelings, and/or thoughts even when that seems impossible. We will work closely with you while we help to move you to a more positive and functional situation. Generally, our counselors' first step will be to learn all about you and what has brought you to a point in your life where you are seeking help. We will ask you to tell us all about yourself, your life, and your current situation. We then seek patterns and attempt to make connections between your past and your current situation. Through this process we are generally able to develop a comprehensive treatment plan and have a good understanding of what therapeutic modality would work best for you. We will work together from that point forward and establish a strong and mutually trusting therapeutic relationship. The most important part of the experience will be to instill and foster hope and to make sure that you feel supported.
