Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Making sure I am qualified to meet their needs. Their return may need someone that works in the area of expertise that I don't have the training in. I am honest and trustworthy with their information. I do not sell their emails or addresses to advertisers for gain. My clients information needs protected and that is a great concern in many taxpayers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certification in bookkeeping. Began working for H&R Block in 1990 and had their training for 3 Yrs. I also keep up the yrly updates for any changes that have been made.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My fees have a base fee amount that cover the first two W2 for MFJ short form. If they have children eligible for EIC then I charge by the form in addition to the base price.
it depends on the situation and all the forms that need to be filed for every tax return filed. The base price also includes the electronically filed return. Any correspondence is also included. I do not charge by the hour. The only time I charge by the hour is bookkeeping services.
How did you get started in this business?
Started working for H&R Block in 1990 and worked for them as a receptionist and the next year I took their training class and worked as a tax preparer. Enjoyed it very much so when we moved to Pensacola FL I worked one season for them. I had to wait two years afterwards because of the non compete clause before I started my business. There is a lot of procedures to have to accomplish to get started. I am also an ERO (electronic return originator) which gives me the ability to process and file returns electronically.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with individuals and small business owners in preparation of their returns.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be sure a person you hire to do your return knows the laws and also has references to their work.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Don't be afraid to mention anything that you have questions about in getting ready for tax preparation. It may be a deal breaker for a better return.
