I have a PhD in Human Development and twenty years of experience to bring to each meeting. That said - I come to our sessions to learn how to help not give you the "expert" take on your situation.
I work with you as an individual not a diagnosis. My approach is collaborative and behavioral. I use the pillars of DBT: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
My service is goal oriented. I want you to get past whatever THIS is for you. It may be anxiety or depression. It may be a body-focused repetitive behavior like hair pulling or skin picking. I will work with you to plan a manageable path to recovery with milestones to celebrate along the way.

Every single person presents a new challenge. They may have a diagnosis that serves as a starting point for therapy, but each individual brings something unique to the journey. I am honored when we get to a place where they take a chance on trusting me. I love helping folks face and name what has shamed them for so long whether it be a bad habit, a series of rejections or a lifetime of never being good enough. I celebrate with them as they begin to value themselves and truly believe in their worth.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I call to see if my therapy and delivery method is a good fit for them. If it is, we get all the HIPPA and privacy information completed before our first meeting. We also get a completed Psycho-Social so we can get right down to the business of listening and responding in our very first meeting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a PhD in Human Development. I also have a Educational Specialist (70 hours + a MA) in School Psychology. I have a certificate from the Scientific Advisory Board of the Trichotillomania Learning Center for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (Hair Pullin/Skin Picking). I also have completed classes and earned certificates in Personal Coaching and Therapy Master Classes.
