    Frequently asked questions

The first appointment is simply a fact finding appointment. We will both have the opportunity to ask questions and give answers, and that allows us to determione if both parties are comfortable going forward. I will not allow a client tp open any sort of account or do anything financially until the second appointment. I find this allows people to be more comfortable, because there is no fear of "buying anything".

I have been a financial planner for the last eighteen years, but have been active in the financial world for almost forty. Under my father's direction, I began investing in the stock market at age 14, using the money I earned from mowing lawns and odd jobs. This was the beginning of my life long fascination with investing and economics.

    I have FINRA licenses 7,63, 65, and 24

I make every attempt to avoid recommending ANY product in which the client pays a commision to own it. While a lot of advisors advertise themselves as "fee based" only, I cant help but wonder what they do if the client wants to buy a life insurance policy-because those tend to pay a commision. I do not use mutual funds for this reason, as those are usually commision based investments.

I have all sorts of clients, but my client based (like every advisor in Florida) is mainly retired or near retirement age people

There are too many to list. I find inspiration in people accomplishing something they have worked hard for-be it in athletics, entertainment, education or whatever

the most basic advice is to trust your instincts. The relationship with a financial advisor is one of the most important relationships you will have.

Insure they have the necessary licenses. The absolute minimum they should have is a FINRA Series 7 license. Having FINRA Series 63 and 65 are also good, as that is what fee only advisors need to have. If an "advisor" doesnt have these licenses, he is most likely a representative of an insurance agency and sells commision based products only.

    1. What exactly are you trying to accomplish by using an advisor?

    2. What service expectations should I have from a financial advisor?

    3. Are you prepared to be completely honest with the advisor when answering his or her questions?
