I have 20+ years experience in tax preparation, accounting and payroll for small businesses. In that twenty years I have learned that not everyone runs their business the same way and that each one of you has different needs. That being said, I try hard to meet those needs through listening and experience. I am patient and understand that you have a business to run. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Establishing the true need is probably the most important step in taking on a new client. Listening is key to this step. I like to ask more questions than most because I feel like it's a disservice to my clients to provide services they don't need and not services they do.
