I work from a "life coach" proactive model where I encourage people to grow their strengths and not just focus on their "weaknesses" or regrets.
Additionally I use humor very extensively as a tool for deep therapy. I believe profound thoughts are more easily remembered and utilized when presented in a way that is funny or striking.
People often say to me, "Dr. Boltson, you don't act like a psychologist." They mean I am not stuffy or distant or detached. I speak to you like a regular person with warmth and humor. I am very personable and easy to talk with. On the other hand I am challenging as well. If I was only nice and never challenged your thinking, you would not grow or change for the better!
