When working with a new client we have a standardized onboarding process that we follow to ensure that needs of the client, and their specific book of business is met.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Given our more than 15 years of experience as a bookkeeper I have learned that standardized pricing is not in the best interest of the client because each client and their needs are different. Our pricing is based on the specific needs of the business, and the time and tools that are required from us.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started as a bookkeeper while working for my first employer. I was asked to work with their current office manager, and noticed that there were no office procedures in place, and there were no cash handling procedures. I took that opportunity to share my concerns about the risk I would be taking by accepting the management position. That question afforded me a position with the setup team for this company in which I setup the back office, and implemented all of the training for the company in regard to bookkeeping, and office procedures.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recently a client that I was assisting that had been many years, but never focused on how important the bookkeeping and standard operating procedures are needed to obtain business funding to expand their territory. When they presented there financial reports to the bank for a loan they were rejected because they could not answer the questions that were asked about their financials becuase they looked at their books solely by their tax return and how much they had to pay in for taxes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When you are interviewing your prospective bookkeeper are they interested in the inner working pieces of your business, or are they only asking you questions related to your numbers. By this I mean are they asking you how many accounts you have, how many credit cards to you have? If those are the questions they are being asked they are only interested in working the numbers much like a data entry clerk. If they are asking the more probative questions about business, what your business, and personal future looks like then they are interested in working collaboratively with you to help your business grow.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The questions that they should be thinking about are:
- Is the current way the bookkeeping is being done what is in the best interest of my business and future growth? This is important because most often the person doing the bookkeeping is not specifically trained, but took on the duty because they are profecient and detailed. However, is that persons best use of time, and the money it is costing for their time being utilized handling the bookkeeping for the company or would it be better utilized by maximizing their skill set in their particular part of the business.
