About this pro

I am a warm, caring, compassionate board certified psychiatric clinical nurse specialist in private practice. My BSN and MSN degrees are from two of the top nursing schools in the country. I have been a nurse for more than 40 years, in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatry in the US and Canada. I have also taught nursing at the university level. My specialty is girl's and women's mental health across the lifespan; children through seniors. I have particular interest in reproductive mental health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I also have expertise in working with digital nomads, travelers, and my fellow nurses. I live and work on a sailboat, so my practice is completely online, email, and telephone based - with flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends. I am NOT a nurse practitioner and therefore, do NOT prescribe medications. My clinical approach combines cognitive behavioral, solution focused, interpersonal, and psychodynamic therapies. I have helped clients with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, disordered eating, loss and grieving, self harm, personality disorders, infertility, menopause, self esteem, trauma, chronic illness, and many other issues.

It will be my pleasure and privilege to work together with you and build a trusting relationship. As a team, we will establish priorities as to what you want to focus on, set goals, and help you with managing your symptoms, and ultimately, to feel better about yourself and your life.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Please reach out to me by phone, email, or text. If I am unavailable, I will respond as quickly as I can. Let's have a short conversation to mutually determine if and how we wish to work together. You can ask me any questions that are on your mind. If we decide to proceed, I will send you detailed information about myself and my practice, and some forms for you to fill out prior to our first appointment. I will include instructions about how to access the platform for scheduling your appointments, and for confidential communication, and for our actual sessions.

Since I do not work from a traditional "bricks and mortar" office, I am able to offer appointments at non-traditional times and hopefully, more convenient for you. Sessions are generally 50 minutes long, but our first one will actually be a session and a half - an hour and fifteen minutes long. This will give us a chance for greater information sharing and developing a plan for your treatment.

Please know that I am not on any insurance panels. If you wish, I will provide you with a "Super Bill."  You can submit this to your insurance as an out of network claim, which they may or may not pay. This will between you and your insurance company.

Credit and debit cards are accepted for payment, as is PayPal. This is explained in more detail in the documents I will send you prior to our first session.

BSN - University of Miami 1978

How did you get started in this business?

I met a great psychiatric nurse when I was a young teenager, and really admired her and what she was doing. Her job sounded fun, yet challenging to me. That contributed to my desire to be a nurse "when I grew up."  😊

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Trust your gut. Is this a person you feel comfortable with? Do you feel a connection? Do you feel respected and understood? Will you be happy investing your time and money in working with this therapist? Are you prepared to be honest as you can with yourself and with her?
