The relationship you have with yourself is the foundation in which everything and everyone in your life is built. Improving yourself will improve your overall life.

My area of focus is the relationship you have with yourself. From there all other relationships with your significant other, sibling, co-worker, family member, higher power etc. will automatically realign. The goal of any coach is to ultimately help you win.  A coach is trained to find the barriers that prevent us from being the best we can be and guide us with tips and techniques to ultimately win at life.

Let me stress that all relationships start with the relationship you have with yourself. If you are not healthy you will most certainly not attract healthy relationships.  I offer a completely free initial call, so you have absolutely nothing to lose.

So happy to find you on facebook, Mr. Jay. I don't see any of the reviews here from your old website so I took the liberty to cut and paste a few. I hope you don't mind. "Mr. Jay is a lively, intelligent and creative development coach. I always enjoy my contact with him." Roberta "Mr. Jay has done a great job addressing my issues and helping me come up with a plan to resolve them. Also, he is very upfront and honest about everything." - Mark "I had put off getting help for years. I wasn’t sure if coaching was right for me, but it was one of the best decisions I have made thus far. Mr. Jay was a great listener, very understanding, relate-able and recommended tools relevant to my situation. I highly recommend him for anyone struggling through life’s difficult journey." - Jim "I am very pleased with the conversations provided by Mr. Jay. He asks very thought-provoking questions to help me and also provides tools and practice exercises to help me navigate through everyday life scenarios. I would recommend talking to Mr. Jay to anyone!" - Marcia "Mr. Jay has worked wonders with our family. After working with Mr. Jay for only a few sessions the transformation was astounding. The whole family is doing much better!" - Genuinely Grateful in Georgia "Mr. Jay literally saved our marriage. Plain and Simple. We are stronger and more loving than ever. Heartfelt thank you" - Simone "We called Mr. Jay when it seemed as though our world was falling apart. We were not even sleeping in the same room. He gave us the tools to communicate better and to get the love back in our relationship. We have checked-in a few times over the years to refresh our marriage and to get it back on track. We have recommended Mr. Jay to several of our couple friends. He is truly talented and truly cares." - Laura & Sam "I struggled with low self-esteem and it seemed to consume my life. Mr. Jay is positive, compassionate, and easy to talk to. He helped me gain a more positive outlook on myself and the situations in my life. I wish I had found him sooner! Thank you!" - Kasey "I have been helped by Mr. Jay for almost a year. He pulls no punches and is direct but keeps me focused and challenges me. Highly recommend." - Donovan "Mr. Jay helped me work through the grief and regrets of losing a friend. He gave me the tools to replace negative thoughts about myself with positive ones. He helped me gain confidence in myself, and have a more optimistic outlook on life." - Tonya G. "We were in a relatively new relationship. We both decided that rather than split up-we decided to try and talk with someone. We called Mr. Jay and right from the start things started getting better. He gave us hope and help. Mr. Jay had some very refreshing ideas and didn’t just sit through each conversation like a bump on a log. He gave us homework, hope, and help. We are still going strong!" - Rob "Raised in an abusive home darkness drew a messy picture on the canvas of my life. With a genuine heart and deep level of commitment, he has helped me work through the rough times and to find joy in life. Thank you, Mr. Jay. You are a true blessing in my life. I don’t know where I’d be today if I hadn’t had your help." - Kimberly from Florida "Mr. Jay has helped me on and off for the past 5 years. He is truly a breath of fresh air. He has great ideas and really knows how to actively listen, not just hear what you re saying." - Shane "A bit less than a year ago, following a series of unfortunate events in my life, I had reached a really low point feeling emotionally, mentally and physically drained. After a few weeks, I began to see the light at the end of the tunnel and now have no drained feelings as I once had. I cannot thank him enough." - L. B, Rhode Island "I believe that the most effective coaching is a right blend of knowledge, skills, and heart. For over eight years I have known Mr. Jay to combine these ingredients in work with clients of many backgrounds and needs. He is truly a creative guide through the challenges of self-insight, healing, and growth." - Teacher in Manhattan

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

During your telesession, I will listen to what your troubled areas are and together we can start to develop a plan to address them. If you are not reaching out for a specific reason, I may start with a few general questions such as:

  • What are your likes/dislikes about yourself?
  • What are your likes/dislikes in life?
  • What do you do during your spare time?
  • What brings you happiness?
  • What do you want out of your relationship(s)?
  • What do you want to achieve in life?
  • What areas you’re unhappy with?
  • Where you would like to see yourself in the future etc. Once this information (and more) is gathered we can then, together, work on a plan to achieve your happiness/goals. I will always offer support, goals and, when necessary and appropriate, offer feedback.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am not a fly-by-night coach. I have been coaching and assisting others for decades helping countless. My life is my testimony. Unlike other coaches who endured a rough patch and came out of it believing they are ready to help others do the same I’ve lived a lifetime of rough patches and rough relationships that have prepared me for superior coaching.

I was my first client and I myself am a success story. As I mentioned above, I hold an associate degree in therapeutic recreation, a dual-study bachelor’s degree in theater and psychology and a master’s degree in Arts and Teaching. Currently hold two Life Coach certifications, a ministry certification, public speaking certification and continuously keep up with the latest coaching modules and developments to better serve my clients.

I have worked in schools, psychiatric hospitals, group homes etc., as a youth analyst, teacher, and mental health professional for over twenty years. I have served as a Personal Development/Relationship Coach & counselor at our church, as well as, volunteered for a crisis hotline for years.

How did you get started in this business?

Have you ever felt lost, confused, unlovable, out-of-touch, angry, or on the verge of losing it all or yourself? Changing all this is as simple as picking up your phone.

It is said that the definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly the same way but expecting a different outcome. Is there an area in life you are unhappy with? Are there things in your life that you know you want and need to change but not sure where to start? Are you struggling in your relationship(s), your marriage, or single life?

Lord knows I’ve been there. All my life I saw all my friends thrive while I struggled every day just to survive. I was the product of divorce, raised in poverty (on some pretty rough streets) and thrown into special-ed for a minor speech impediment. At fourteen I moved out on my own and after years of therapy, tapping into my faith, self-examination, endless podcasts, books, hard work and determination found the true me and gained a whole new perspective on life.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have spent many years counseling individuals/couples (being ordained qualifies me to counsel in religious and various other settings) on topics such as:

  • Premarital/Marital counseling
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Sex-education
  • Death of a loved one
  • Marriage and/or family challenges
  • Social anxiety
  • Stress
  • Betrayal Trauma
  • Burnout
  • Abuse
  • Major life transitions
  • Breakup/divorce
  • Healing from a painful break-up/separation
  • Child/Adolescent behavior problems and more. I have worked with countless clients on an array of issues including all aspects of spirituality and worked extensively with the LGBT community.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Unlike other professions it is crucial to find a coach that has a disposition and likability so trust (which is critical for growth) can be built.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Any question that pertains to where they want to be ten days from now, ten months from now and ten years from now.
