How did you get started in this business?
My interest in computers started in high school. I pursued that passion in college. I worked as an employee for about 15 years before I had the courage to open my own consulting business. Along the way, I have created software systems for many clients. I have also managed to create software that we sell and service for the Medical field.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of markets as employee and consultant. These markets included Aerospace, Liquor Distribution, Food/Grocery Distribution, Warehousing and Fulfillment, Marketing, Insurance, Banking, Manufacturing, Electonics, Oil & Gas, and Medical. I have worked with many startups, small businesses and all the way up to the largest of US companies.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was asked to help a pharmacist friend with a problem involving the filling of blister cards for prescription medications. I created the program that organized the patients and their meds and printed multi-med labels for the blister cards. He and I discussed various marketing ideas for making the public more aware of his new multi-med blister card service. He was able to grow his business from $3M to $32M over a period of 7 years.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Interview the pro as if they were a candidate for an employee position. They will also be interviewing you and your company to see if their skills and resources will be able to address your situation.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Do I have the skills in-house to perform the desired task(s)? ...Should I "outsource" or handle it "in-house"? ...and What are the anticipated costs either way?
Will I need this IT Service for a single assignment or on a continual basis?
How will I maintain the end-result of the assignment after the assignment has been completed?
