Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Email and/or telephone communication begins the conversation. If the client is comfortable with electronic correspondence, then I grant access to my firm's online portal where they can simply upload tax documents.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors and masters degree in accounting, as well as the enrolled agent license which requires me to keep up continuing education requirements on tax.
Between seminars, webinars, industry journals, requied continuing-education, and pro-bono work and education, I deducate hundreds of hours to my craft and maintain an extremely strict standard for accuracy and ethical conduct.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
N0, everybody's situation is different and thus it requires different pricing for everybody. My fees are based on the complexity of the engagement, and the quality of work-product provided.
How did you get started in this business?
Accounting intern in 2012
What types of customers have you worked with?
The full spectrum of difficult through awesome. The worst type of clients for anybody to deal with regardless of industry, are those who do npot listen or read instructions or requests.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Helping bring clients with bad experiences with previous accountants and showing them what competent services look like.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Vet the credentials and check the math, the IRS holds the taxpayer responsible. We as a tax industry are simply as conduit to help translate the rediculous tax code for taxpayers; So if you are going to hire a professional to do the work, atleast take the time to vet the individual or firm so you don't have to do with same work twice.
If you aren't working with someome who can deal directly with a letter from a tax authority, that amount of risk/exposure is something to take into serious consideration.
