Andrea Miller-Blackman Transpersonal Psychology
About
I offer therapy based on treating mind, body and spirit. I specialize in lgbtq2 issues, marriage, relationship and Native American issues. My goal is to teach clients how to resolve and heal the issues that create struggles.
I am a certified hypnotharapist, which helps many clients understand the root cause of certain struggles as well as aid in managing stress, anxiety and trauma reactions.
I believe that cultural background and beliefs are important in developing a treatment plan for individual clients. Being Native American, raised in my Amsskaapipikani Blackfeet traditional culture, as well as being part of the lgbtq2 community help me to understand and empathize with clients from various cultural backgrounds.
Most importantly, I believe in each client being in charge of their healing. I am responsible for teaching, guiding and giving clients the tools needed and they are responsible for doing the work to reach their therapy goals.
I enjoy seeing clients recognize their own strength and feel empowered to handle struggles in a healthy way.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The initial process is; discussion on goals and the clients insights from their perspective on struggles and supportive needs. Then creating a plan to begin working towards each goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have degrees in Native American cultural studies, sociology and Transpersonal psychology. I am a certified hypnotharapist, have extensively studied lgbtq2 psychology, cultural psychology, historical trauma, interpersonal relationship skills and managing anxiety, stress and trauma reactions.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always had a natural draw to help people in times of struggle. After many conversations with people who felt underrepresented or not culturally connected to therapy, it felt like a natural progression to try to fill the gap in the therapeutic field.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My clients are a very diverse group, including multiple cultural background, socioeconomic, age range and personal backgrounds. I do primarily work within the lgbtq2 and Native American communities, but not exclusively.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This past summer I had the pleasure of working with the local chapter of "Free mom hugs" to educate members on being a good ally, inclusiveness, terminology and supporting the lgbtq2 community.
