Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new client?
We ask our new guests to arrive 15 minutes prior to their reserved service time so that they may have adequet time to fill out a new guest profile that helps us to dermine their health and preferences. This is also a good time to decompress a bit with a warm neck wrap and either some herbal tea or citrus water in our comfortable lobby.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each therapist has graduated from massage schools with a minimum ciricculum of 600 hours and the vast majority have gone to school for more, some with even more than 1000 hours. The state regulates a minimum of 500 hours to be licensed. Elixir therapists also undergo continuing education in our unique protocols, ethics, body mechanics and customer serivce training.
Do you have a standard pricing system? If so, please share the details here.
We have 2 tiers of pricing; member and non-member. We do occassionally have incentives or specials but in general we do not discount as the value of our massage services is exceptional to begin with. All of our pricing is clearing indicated on our website and printed menu.
How did you get started?
Like many of us, I had been in a job that required me to work exceptionally long hours; massage allowed me to manage that work stress so I stayed healthy both mentally and physically. That's when I realized I wanted to offer that same relief to the people I care about.
So many people I encountered were feeling stressed and were suffering from chronic tension and pain in their day to day lives. It was affecting their quality of life and their well-being--I recognized the need for a holistic approach to stress and pain management. Now I offer that to you.
Our hope at Elixir is that affordable regular massage will encourage you to nourish your body, your mind and your spirit. We invite you to visit. Take some down time. You'll not only save money, you'll reap the long-term benefits of a healthy you.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We are open and welcoming to working with anyone seeking theraputic massage services. We see a lot of athletes, couples, pregnant women and people in high stress careers. Most guests come repeately; however we also have a few of those that just come for special celebrations. Being in downtown Denver our guests are primarily urban residents, people working nearby and hotel guests.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have events 2 to 3 times per year. Usually a happy hour with drinks, appetizers and mini services. For spring 2017 we had a Bloom Into Beauty Happy Hour to spotlight our aestetic services and products including facials, NuFace lifts and the Bioslimming Wrap. It was fully booked and we had a great response from attendees.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a professional in your area of expertise?
Don't just ever get a massage because of pricing. This is one industry where a great value and expertise bodywork will cost a bit more. Heavliy discounted services (like GroupOn) means they don't have a good repeat client base and there may be a good reason.
Look for expereinced staff that can do a variety of modalities, good reviews (and responses to bad reveiws), professional website, phones that are answered by a person during business hours and not an answering machine, regular and convenient business hours and a clean studio.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their needs?
Why do you want a massage? Pain, stress, grief, chronic illness, injury or to relax?
What are your expectations or goals for the massage?
How much time do you want to devote? 60 minutes is better than 30 , 90 better than 60 and regular massage to maintain your health is ideal.
How often do you want to get massage?
What are 3 words you would use to describe your ideal massage therapist.
