I got my start working with children and families through dcfs services at an after school/evening children and family program and continued on to work with adults navigating life in and out of prison system. I have worked extensively with both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and addiction services, and continue to develop my private practice to serve children, adolescents and adults through both individual and family counseling services.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked extensively with children and adolescents, as well as adults with addiction and mental illness concerns. I specialize in anxiety and depression as well as general life coaching for those seeking to reach their goals and full potential.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
First I'd like to say, seeking treatment, whether it's your first time or you e been through this process before, is a huge positive step, and can often be scary. That first step is often the hardest. My advice for seeking treatment and support is to find a professional within a reasonable distance to you, travel can be a huge factor in your willingness to participate and then as as many questions as you can to determine if that counselor is the right fit, offering the right services for you. I encourage you to continue treatment for a few sessions before deciding if that person of a match but also trust your instincts, if something isn't working, never be afraid to say so.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
My suggestion is to discuss fees for services right up front to ensure that counselor is within your price range. I also encourage clients to ask what treatment will look like and what types of services are offered, including discussions on both therapist and client expectations. It's best to discuss the things that may deter you from continuing treatment and what you would like to focus on with your therapist during the course of your treatment as well.
