She earned her Master’s of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University. She started her career with Deloitte & Touche as a tax professional in 2000, and then continued to work for a local CPA firm. Since 2005 she has specialized in client representation with the IRS, FTB, SBE and EDD and resolution of tax problems.

Ms. Kormochi effectively challenged the IRS and FTB proposed assessments of additional tax liabilities during the audits. The issues that she was able to dispute include timing of income recognition under the accrual method of accounting, calculation of shareholder’s basis for purpose of allowed losses taken on shareholder’s individual tax return, substantiating charitable contributions and gains recognized in Sec. 1031 exchanges. In addition, she successfully requested the abatement of various penalties for clients.

Olga Kormochi is a member of American Society of Tax Problem Solvers. She attended American Law Institute Tax Controversy Institute and UCLA Tax Controversy Institute.
