Welcome. I offer a healing space for alleviating emotional pain, and improving your life. I am a Licensed therapist in private practice full time, and I teach psychology classes at a local college. I have a doctorate degree in Psychology, and I wrote my doctoral dissertation on cognitive-behavioral therapy for panic disorder.
People seek therapy for many reasons. Often we are going through difficult circumstances that cause distress, and we need to feel better fast. We all want to feel whole, happy, and have a life that is emotionally balanced and fulfilling. Sometimes we keep ending up in the same relationship and life patterns despite our best efforts to change. You may want to feel better about yourself, or are struggling to overcome wounds from the past that keep holding you back. Perhaps you have been suffering for too long with feelings of anxiety and depression that interfere with having the life you want. You likely want more from your life, yourself, and your relationships. I can help you live the life you deserve, and find emotional peace and clarity.
In therapy we examine your memories, feelings, thoughts, and dreams. Paying close attention to the unconscious meanings you have made of your life experiences, and how they guide your choices and responses in relationships, work, school, and life. We collaborate together on helping you tolerate your emotions, and understand the often unconscious reasons behind your choices. So that you can make more successful and empowered life decisions. I offer specific skills for communication, anxiety relief, and better access to your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs. I also utilize EMDR for rapid relief of trauma and anxiety symptoms, as well as long term self-esteem benefits.
I love seeing my clients grow and change becoming content and happy with themselves and their life. I provide honest and thoughtful feedback; along with warmth, compassion, and guidance. Therapy with me is a long-term commitment to your well being, happiness, and personal growth. My goal in therapy is to provide you a safe nurturing space in which you are deeply understood, while being supported towards significant life change.
I've been seeing Michelle since 2007. She has helped me so much. I dont know where I would be with out her.
She is open and honest and easy to talk with.
My client and I meet generally once a week or every other week. We talk about the concerns my client has, what has worked or hasn’t in the past, and figure out the best way to move forward. I practice cognitive behavior therapy, EMDR for rapid relief, and insight-oriented treatment.
