    At the age of 27 I felt like I was at the peak of my quarter life crisis (or the rock bottom of it depending on how you look at it). 6 years out of school with a communications degree, three dead-end jobs and zero hobbies that I had actively pursued aside from the gym; to say I felt directionless and lost was an understatement. I was extremely unhappy with my career, but it was much more than that, I simply wasn’t satisfied with my life. I knew I needed to make some drastic changes, that there was more to life than a job you hated and working out, I just wasn’t sure how to get there or what ‘there’ even was for that matter.
    As luck would have it, I just happened to be introduced to Leadership for Life right as I was entering this quarter life crisis. Even after my initial meeting I felt encouraged, energized and most importantly, hopeful. Leadership for Life not only equipped me with the tools and resources that I needed to jumpstart me forward with my career search, but it offered me a more enlightened look on life overall. With their guidance and support I was able discover things about myself that I had been overlooking for quite some time. That alone shed new light on who I was, how I deal with things, what I’m comfortable with now and what I’m capable of moving forward. As my sessions progressed, so did my confidence in the future. While I approached Leadership for Life with a somewhat hopeless, negative outlook, I walked away with an optimistic and hopeful one. Essentially, it provided me with the clarity that I needed.
    Now, one year later, I have gained a greater level of satisfaction week to week. I finally pursued my dream to teach dance to children and it’s the absolute favorite part of my week. I now have new plans for my career, one that caters to the creative and artistic side that I had traded for the 9-5 office job, I joined toastmasters, another goal I had been putting off, I have finally set a date to relocate somewhere with the support network that I need right now , and I have established new long term goals for myself. I have a plan, and have come to terms with the notion that those plans will continue to evolve over time as I do the same. Thanks to the expertise of Leadership for Life, I finally feel like I have direction again, I have much to look forward to and above all, that void I had in my life for so long is slowly being filled.

    Often times we have to journey outside ourselves in order to really journey within. I realize that sounds like a huge oxymoron; however, this was my truth this summer as I found myself on a plane to Costa Rica. Life is a series of journeys, each one different as we go through the seasons of life and are marked by our various life experiences: relationships, careers, grief, joy, love, loss, fulfillment. I happen to be in one of my darker stages. I was broken and I needed to leave to find myself again.
    I discovered Leadership for Life and was enchanted by the idea of being “renewed”- I couldn’t think of anything better or anything I needed more. The premise of Leadership for Life is Wellness and YOU, yes- YOU! Each of us is on our own unique journey, each of us has our own set of desires and each of us has our own definition of fulfillment. What are the things, people, thoughts, actions or ideas that are standing in the way of allowing you reach yours? To be fulfilled. I believe that through the Leadership for Life seminars offered in Costa Rica you will gain the tools that you need to help you begin or continue down the path to clarity and well-being. Ultimately walking away knowing & believing that who you are and what you have to offer this world is enough. If any part of you is longing to be reawakened Coast Rica and Leadership for Life is a vacation and investment that you should consider making for yourself.
    The beauty of Costa Rica allows for an additional window of clarity. There is something about the “simple things” the “simple life”. When you get rid of all the noise, you find clarity. Our society doesn’t really encourage or allow us the time to process or slow down and appreciate much anymore. That is not the case in Costa Rica. Whether it’s a long nap pool side with the soothing sounds of the water fall, an epic surf session in the eighty degree water, zip lining through the trees, a sunset catamaran sail or just walking home after an awesome dinner in a swim suite and no shoes on a dirt road in a thunder storm- you will find yourself surrounded by moments of clarity, peace and restoration. Costa Rica is a place of beauty, and not just natural beauty, which there is plenty of; but also beauty that comes from slowing down and being still.
    Lastly, I will share a powerful final excerpt from my reflection of Costa Rica that I wrote in a plane flying over what I can only call, God’s country: “So what did I get out of Costa Rica? What did I get out of Leadership for Life? I’m sitting on a 12 seater plane with 8 other people, looking out over the Playa Tamarindo, I can see the beach I surfed at and the place I called home. A single tear falls from my eye as I realize I have started the journey to finding myself again.”

    We like to get to know our clients and come to some clarity on their goals for our work together in our first meeting.  Once we have a shared understanding of what we want to accomplish together, then we can talk about how to proceed.

    Mark R. Peters, Ph.D. owns and operates Leadership for Life.  His background, qualifications, and curriculum vitae can be found in his Linked In Profile (see link above).

    In brief, Mark brings over 20 years of work experience that includes corporate training and recruiting, career counseling, university teaching and serving as a mentor, formal and informal, for hundreds of young adults.

    We charge $100 for a 50 minute one-on-one session, although discounts are available for students, active military, or full time volunteers.

    Or you can buy a package of 5 sessions for $400 ($100 savings).  For coaching clients, I suggest commiting to multiple sessions.

    We also can tailor workshops or retreats for both individuals and groups.  Price is negotiated for each experience.

    We have worked with young adults (20's and 30's) and adults at any age or stage facing a transition in their life, e.g. wanting to change directions in their career, wondering what sort of personal legacy they want leave. 

    We work with those retiring from a profession and considering their next steps, as an encore career, full time volunteer work, or looking to take a sabbatical.

    We have also worked with those who have served in the armed forces as they transition into civilain life.
