I have been a freelance designer / developer since 2005. Prior to that I was a Marketing Manager for a $130mil Silicon Valley company.
I design websites with content management platforms such Wordpress and Joomla. I can program in css, html, php, java and jquery and support complete custom development projects as well as simple mods.
For print designs, I use the Adobe Ceeative Suite and have advanced skills with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Self taught. Built my first website in 1999, my first print ad in 2000, first print catalog in 2002 and have not looked back. I have built and designed some huge projects and am always striving to make the next design my best. The challenge makes the work exciting.

I need to earn about $50 an hour to survive, but I am do not expect clients to stay on the hook for unknown time. I usualy work on a monthoy retainer as a consultant for the client, or on a fixed bid per project basis.
How did you get started in this business?
I was a markjeting manager working with 5 different consultants (ad design, catalog design, web, pr and newsletters).It was easier to do the work directly than ito communicate the barand requirements / marketing vision to these 5 unrelated entities. Saw I had a knack for it and decided to become a freelance resource.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Mostly electronic componetnts, as I have a lot industry experience in engineering and project management, but have helped many clients in completely unrelated fields (swimming ppools, doors and windows, music instruments, etc. . . )
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Massive master-distributor website that syncs all its product data down to 9 subsites. The solution for this client did not exist and I nvented int and implemented it while making 10 website look great.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look at their past work closely, and make sure they actually did said work. Avoid up-front costs with a resouorce of unknown quality, make sure you get a result before you pay for it.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are their long-term objectives, don't design / develop to fix only today's problem. Look ahead to ensure your investment solve's tomorrow's problems as well.
