Our unique process is designed for us to connect and collaborate with our client families and provide the highest value possible.

Since 2013, Pettinelli Financial Partners has been operating with a service team model. Under this approach, several experienced professionals, rather than one single advisor, work with our clients. Frequently asked questions

Fact Finding

We want to learn about your financial goals and intentions, and we want you to learn about us. To this end, we will complete a confidential Fact-Finder questionnaire with you during the initial appointment. We will encourage you to ask us many questions during this discovery process.

Analysis

Regardless of the level of sophistication of your current financial plan, it will be reviewed with a critical eye toward your goals and best interests. In collaboration with our partners in the investment, insurance, legal, and tax professions, we will take a holistic view of your current financial situation.

Education

We will introduce you to our planning software and share our insights. We utilize state-of-the art technology when we explain the first draft of your need’s analysis or financial plan. We will review some of the challenges that you might face while you are still working and after you retire.

Implementation

Our strategies to help you reach your financial goals will be fully explained. Research tells us that investor behavior is a better indicator of client financial success than investment performance. Our firm relies on the latest behavioral finance concepts to assist you

in making the best choices for you and your family.

Monitoring and Review

We will monitor your progress toward your goals and meet with you on a regular basis. As fiduciaries, we must always put your interests ahead of ours. It is in this spirit that we draft an executive summary for every appointment. With regard to review appointments, most of our clients prefer to meet once per year. Client families with more complicated financial plans or who are experiencing major life events choose to meet quarterly or every six months. Our clients determine the frequency of review appointments.

When you need us, we are here for you.

Our journey begins in 1979.

Dennis Pettinelli was asked by John Hancock Life Insurance Company to relocate to the West Coast to take over one of their struggling financial services offices in San Mateo, California, as a General Agent (GA). Although he knew no one in the area, he packed up his bags and moved his family west.

His main job as a GA included recruiting, developing, and working with clients jointly, to help mold the financial advisors of tomorrow. In 2007, he retired from his GA role to focus on his passion: serving his clients. His initial plan was to maintain a small firm. His son-in-law, Jonathan Nicolas, served as an advisor, and his son, Jon Pettinelli, focused on financial strategies and operations. However, his plans changed as he became aware that he was not

practicing what he preached.

Dennis had always advised his clients about their retirement strategies and the importance of having a continuity of service plan. However, he realized he was not creating the same kind of plan for himself. If something happened to him, who would help his clients follow through with the plans they had spent so much time developing? He recognized that he needed an entire team to implement his wishes and dreams. The days of building a practice around one person’s skill, passion, and knowledge were coming to an end.

Dennis thought back to his GA days when he knew so many young professionals with great potential, but struggled to become individual entrepreneurs and successful advisors. There was an extremely high start-up cost to becoming an advisor; new hires worked on commission and had to pay out-of-pocket for their licensing and education.

Mentorship opportunities were scarce. To compound these issues, the independent financial services industry was becoming increasingly challenging with its constantly

shifting rules and regulations. Advisors needed to be more dedicated to their craft than ever, so they could help their clients deal with their increased longevity and more complicated lives.

As fate would have it, Dennis transformed this problem in the industry into a solution for his own firm. He needed more advisors. Consequently, Jonathan recruited two young and talented advisors – Robert Olsen and Jedd Nicolas – who wanted to work in a firm where they could focus on helping clients achieve their goals. Dennis knew that for a firm to be truly great and prosperous, an advisor needed the support of an entire team.

WHY WORK WITH AN ADVISOR?

With the speed of wireless technology and ubiquity of mobile devices, financial information is constantly at our fingertips. But who has the time or discipline to give their financial plan the attention and due diligence it deserves?

That’s where Pettinelli Financial Partners come in. We assist our client families when they have to make the biggest decisions in their financial lives. We are available to offer our expertise and guidance so that our clients make thoughtful choices that

are always in their best interest.

It is our belief that by partnering with us, our clients can have a higher potential of achieving all their financial goals and intentions. Studies have shown that clients that maintain an ongoing relationship with a financial advisor can add between 1.5% and 4% account growth over the long term.1,2 *
