About
My approach is to meet each client where he/she is in life, wanting to understand who this unique human being is. I work from the Emotion Focused Approach developed by Dr. Sue Johnson PhD. author of "Hold Me Tight" and "Love Sense". This approach is based on decades of attachment research initially looking at how parent/child relationships affect a person's sense of self esteem, efficacy, and security in his/her ability to learn, work, play, and be in relationships. Dr. Johnson brought this understanding to adult love relationships to explain how people hurt the ones they love.
I get very excited when I witness a client who has been stuck somewhere in life or a relationship suddenly realize what has been happening, and that they can let "it" go. It brings me joy to participate in the process of person discovering they no longer need to suffer the ways they did, and they are now free of that burden they carried.
