I have 23 years of accounting experience and I'm the owner of El Dorado Tax and Accounting. I hold an Enrolled Agent license and a QuickBooks Pro Advisor credential.

Make sure you ask this potential pro for their credentials to prepare tax returns and their professional resume. You can look up the status of an Enrolled Agent on the NAEA website or the IRS.GOV website.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Make sure not to provide the pro with your personal information or access to your personal tax documents until you check out their credentials and have received an estimate for services along with an engagement letter.
