To say Ema is an impressive genius is an understatement. Shes intuitive right from the start. I feel Im ready for anything when shes my call a friend option and everybody needs Ema in their life. Give her a few minutes and shell be ahead of you before you even finish sharing your ideas, and it will be amazing. I run a few creative companies, and shes strategic in all of them which is an advantage for us every single day. Shes our secret weapon and I wouldnt have it any other way. :)

Ive worked with Ema for several years on many projects and she is incredible! She designed not only my logo and website, but about 15 different limited art editions (card games, jigsaw puzzles, art books and postcard series) Ive produced. She managed every aspect of the projects from concept to physical packaging and each edition has been a hit. Ema works quickly and does beautiful detailed work, always keeps me up to date on developments and communicates very well with me and every artist involved. I trust her decisions and sensibility and have gotten many compliments about her from the artists and vendors. She has also designed business cards, banners, and basically everything Ive ever needed printed. Whenever I have a concept she just somehow makes it all happen. Theres nothing Ema cant do and I highly recommend her!

Stellar! That is what I think about the service provided by Ema. The cover she designed for my limited edition book, Cat Stories perfectly complimented the tone and spirit of the pages within it. And the way she was able to break down the different stanzas, beats, and rhythm of the poems paired with illustrations for the layout was spot on and sensitive to create a reading experience that matched the way that the poems were both written and performed. No small feat. Could only be executed by someone who understands the creative process and is intuitive as f**k, creatively. Pair that with the technical ability to break down, understand, and make sure the actual files getting submitted to the printer (which can be terribly confusing) was so greatly appreciated and a talent that she possesses that makes her so special. Also, I had her work on many of the products I have up on my BTBOB online store - making sure that the illustrations and paintings I was turning into prints and apparel looked crisp, clean, were spot on in color and composition to elevate the level of the products in a way that I could not do alone. What an asset. Will hire again.

    Frequently asked questions

Typically we begin with a brief Q and A consultation regarding overall creative direction, your budget and timeline, desired platform(s), whether or not you have gathered assets or need them created, and your final goals over email, phone, or Zoom.

I usually provide several options depending on your needs, and give expert guidance based on your responses and desired outcome.

Once we agree on the creative direction, budget, and timeline, the work begins immediately upon receipt of a deposit.

Specific rates are provided with quotes but here's my philosophy on pricing.

Pick 2 but you can't have all 3:

    FAST • CHEAP • GOOD

    Good + Fast = Expensive
Choose good and fast and I will postpone every other job, cancel all appointments and stay up 25-hours a day just to get your job done. But, don't expect it to be cheap.

    Good + Cheap = Slow
Choose good and cheap and I will do a great job for a discounted price, but be patient until I have a free moment from paying clients.

    Fast + Cheap = Inferior
Choose fast and cheap and expect an inferior job delivered on time. You truly get what you pay for, and in my opinion this is the least favorable choice of the three. (Honestly, I don't do the Fast + Cheap combo. Call someone else. I won't be mad about it).

I have been a designer my whole life. I began formal, old school commercial art training in high school and college, before there was Photoshop and the internet. Digital art and communication changed my life in the early 90s and the rest is history.

A website redesign from a hand coded site I designed and developed back in 2009 for a Hollywood costume designer. Every single element was in "slices", including every Photoshop background image file.

It was not mobile friendly as that was not a major factor back then. I redesigned it on Squarespace to address mobile responsiveness and feature the beautiful costume visual details in as large a format possible. And because Squarespace is such a solid platform (if anything goes wrong, they fix it), we no longer have to deal with bandwidth issues or complex updates of content which are costly and time consuming.

The client insisted we keep the drive-in movie theater experience. I was able to custom code the site so that movie titles rest on a drive-in movie screen, with full width previews of each title as the user hovers over them. It's responsive and fun to play with and shows busy Hollywood producers and directors enormous, full width retina images and videos.

Since the client provided such organized files containing over 300+ hi res images, the project was launched in under 2 weeks! And that includes optimizing every image for SEO and quite a bit of custom CSS to achieve certain behaviors we both wanted. She and her agents are so pleased.

Tell your story on your website or design project. Be it one for business, a cause, a product, a service, or to promote your creative identity/work.

The words you choose and the way you express them with color scheme and imagery is a huge factor in drawing the attention of the clients, customers, or supporters that you want.

Will add to this over time but generally:

    • What is your budget and timeline?

    • For websites: Will you be managing the site upon launch or do you need it maintained? (If you will manage it, I create video tutorials of everything you'll need to know about the site we've just created. We can do this over a screen sharing service and record it, or I can create them independently and share them with you. Either way, you are armed with knowledge from the beginning and at every step along the way). I am also always available for ongoing support as needed. Just let me know, happy to help!

    • Do you need a logo and if so, is it for print, web, or both?

    • Have you researched your competitors and do you have search term keywords in mind for your business, or do you need those generated for you? (ie; Have you thought about the words people will type into search engines to find your business?)

    • Do you have a color scheme or design motif in mind?

    • Are there websites (or designs) you absolutely love as inspiration, or, want to avoid at all costs? (This helps me know where to navigate your project for the quickest (ah-ha YES!) outcomes.

    • Have you gathered your assets or do you need original content created for your project? (ie; text docs, images, graphics, SEO terms, videos, animations, etc).

    • If you are open to using stock imagery, do you have ideas about that, and do you have a budget to purchase said assets?
