Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When someone comes to use for help with any of life's difficulties we listen to understand what the person is hoping to achieve in counseling. The first session is about understanding your situation so we can create a plan that works for you. We realize that everyone is different and so we take the time to develop counseling that is going to work for you and your unique situation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Many of our therapist at Novus is Certifed Sexual Addiction Therapists and can help you with out of control sexual behavior or porn addiction.
We also have counselors that are trained in EMDR for trauma and well as GIM (Guided Imagery and Music) therapy.
Some therapists are explicitly trained in couples therapy and can help turn around a relationship.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
If you are looking for a counselor, don't be afraid to ask questions about how they work. Make sure that you feel the counselor is a good fit for you. You may want to interview a few counselors over the phone to see how each one fits with you. If your call with the therapist feels like a good fit, then make an appointment with them. You can always change and find another counselor that is a better fit. The most important thing to do is start. The research is clear that counseling works, so go for it.
