At Rayner CPA, we are proud to be early adopters of technology, customer service and the newest tax laws. We supply our clients with custom software and mobile phone apps and are available almost around the clock.
We specialize in small business, freelancers and alternative businesses. Our niches include gig workers, professional services, media and entertainment and now more "taboo" or often forgotten industries.
And.. unlike most accounts, we actually text, message and call you back! We also understand in a virtual and global world, there is no such thing as 9-5 and make ourselves available outside of those hours as well.
With our international and domestic reach, and offices in NY and CA, we pride ourselves in the diverse wealth of knowledge and exposure to all tax scenarios across states and boundaries.

Our passion for tax preparation and accounting comes from our desire to advocate for the small business and every day individual. The goverment sometimes can be a juggernaught and intimidating when it doesn't have to be that way! There is no such thing as a messy client, just a challenge to be solved. We work hard to maximize your tax savings by taking advantage of the most up to date tax laws and changes and the more unknown and obscure ones other firms or individual accountants may not know.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet with a client over video, phone or in person to discuss their needs and assess the documentation and next steps to complete the project or move forward working together to support their business or work on their tax return.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a CPA licensed in NY and CA. I have over 25 years of tax and accounting experience. I have been in financial analysis and CFO work for banks, retail and wholesale companies and a managed IT professional services company. In addition, our office staff consists of Enrolled agents and chartered accountants as well. With my Bachelor's in Science from Yeshiva University Sy Syms School of Business, I have been able to leverage my experience and connections to help a very wide range of client niches.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our pricing varies based on client need. Our individual tax return rates start at $450 and our business tax return rates start at $750 for first year and zero filings. For those who require ongoing monthly accounting and tax maintanence, we charge a fixed monthly rate based on the services provided and do not charge any extra fees or hourly rates above that.
How did you get started in this business?
I started my career in banking and finance. In 2007, while working in the CFO accounting group in one of Citibank's credit card groups, there was a mass lay off in the financial industry in New York. That's when I decided to create Rayner CPA and open my own shingle to help those who needed more than the local tax franchise or dusty antiquated accountant!
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with video and graphic production companies and professionals, attorneys, doctors, entertainers, actors and freelancers!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When looking for the right partner to support you, do they review your taxes with you and take the time to walk through any questions or do you submit them and then get a return back with a black hole of communication? Do they use technology and the latest software to stay in touch and connected?
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is causing you to find a new accountant? What industry are you in and what tools do you need to work with? How many bank and credit card accounts need to be managed. Is there payroll or sales tax? Are there multiple offices or locations?
