About this pro

In 1955 with the assistance of his wife Georgie Goode (lifelong educator and community leader), Mr. Goode founded Calvin Goode & Associates with the sole purpose of helping people. He explains, “We started out on the kitchen table and people came, ‘Mr. Goode, help me with this.’ Our prices were very low and we did it to help people.”

Over the past 60 years, Calvin Goode & Associates has helped thousands of people with completing their tax returns, resolving tax problems, and assisting companies and non-profit corporations with their tax and accounting. In 2015, Calvin Goode handed leadership to his second-oldest son, Jerald Goode, who continues the Goode legacy with GoodeTax, LLC. Jerald, along with Nicole Jones and Lisa Lowry strive to remain true to Mr. Goode’s mission: To provide quality tax preparation service at affordable prices.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We generally invite clients to visit our office in central Phoenix, AZ. Once they fill out our Tax Client questionnaire form, we review their information and ask further questions as needed.

If the return can be finished within 30 minutes to an hour, clients are asked to wait in our lobby while our professionals prepare their taxes. Clients can watch TV, read magazines or chat with other clients. Most of our clients have been with us for years so spending a day at GoodeTax is like chatting with family. Once your taxes are done, we review the details and complete by e-filing the return to the IRS. Expect an onsight visit to last from 1 to 1.5 hours. Payment is due at the end of the on-sight visit.

If the return requires more information or research, the client will schedule a follow-up appointment to complete the return. Payment is due before a follow-up appointment is scheduled. Expect the follow-up appointment to last from 1 to 1.5 hours.

Once e-filing is complete, the tax professional will provide IRS documentation that the return was accepted. If there are any issues with your return, the professionals at GoodeTax, LLC will assist as needed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a tax preparer since 2009. In addition to on-the-job training, I have completed tax preparation continuing education courses through the IRS, Gleim tax courses and Pacific Northwest Tax School.

I am currently studying for the 2018 Enrolled Agent (EA) exams with aspirations to be a certified Enrolled Agent for the 2019 tax season.
