About
As a semi-retired accounting professional I have decades of experience and work out of my home. I also do all the work personally, so it is a not a matter of talking to a partner or owner and having the actual work done by a bookkeeper or inexperienced staff person.
I have little overhead and produce high-quality work well below market rates as full time folks have offices, equipment and support staff that I do not need.
I really enjoyed my career in accounting and systems and this allows me to stay active and up to date on accounting and taxes.
I understand most people don't like dealing with accounting and taxes, just like I detest home repairs. I do and will invest roughly 50 hr in continuing professional education this year to stay on top of the new systems and tax law changes.
I also have top-notch PC equipment and software, that is a tax deduction for my business use of it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always offer a free up to 60 minute interview with new accounting clients. During this meeting, I learn about the services they require and gain a basic understanding of their current business and future plans.
If we decide it is a good fit we then talk about specific tasks, scope and frequency of the work and costs involved. We can do as much or as little as you like, from me posting and managing the books to weekly, monthly or even quarterly reconcilements and/or reviews. I offer full tax services or no tax filing, your choice.
Accounting work is done per hour $60 an hr for offsite work, $75 an hr for telephone or video conferencing and a $100 an hour for work at your location. Tax work is generally a fixed fee amount that you approve in advance.
I'm flexible on how we work, in person, on the phone or internet or me doing the work we agree to remotely. I do require an engagement letter and deposit to start work. However, either of us can cancel the contract with 30 days written notice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As someone who is semi-retired, I can offer you decades of experience and impressive credentials. My career began with a BS in Accounting and Systems from Point Park University. I worked my way up the corporate ladder at Pittsburgh National, Dominion Bankshares, Midwest Financial Group, and First of America Corporation.
Along the way, I earned my MBA in Finance from the University of Illinois. I also earned a number of other professional designations over the years, which are in retired status. I was a Certified Internal Auditor, Bank Auditor, Financial Service Auditor and a Fraud Examiner and Investigator and passed the CISA examination in IT audit. Finally, I was a Project Management Professional who has 10 years of experience and a Master's Certificate from George Washington University in Project Management.
I currently run two small businesses and have professionally prepared taxes since 1999. I take at least 40 hours of continuing professional education in accounting and taxation yearly to assure I can accurately prepare your financials and related returns.
