Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After I am contacted by a potential customer, I set up an appointment, find out what needs to be done, let them know what the price is, decide if payment is made upfront or offer an alternative to have the fee paid out of their return (if getting a refund), send them a link to join my tax portal, they upload all of their tax information and I input their information into the required tax return. Once the tax return is complete, I contact the customer, let them know their outcome and get their permission to e-file the return. After the tax returns are accepted by the IRS, I will send the customer an email letting them know they are able to print a copy of their tax returns via the tax portal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 30+ years of experience that relates to tax preparation. I am registered with the Internal Revenue, have my PTIN number, EFIN number, CAF number as well as my ERO number. I have 5 years of training with Tax Accountancy and preparing income taxes under Robert Kennedy, CPA. I have had training in preparing 1040 Return (Both Federal & State) Schedule C's, 1099's, Amended Returns, Contributions and Retirements, to name a few. I have had minor training in CryptoCurrency and preparing 1120S and 1120C corporations. I am currently studying under Crysta Tyus, an Enrolled Agent in all areas of taxation and marketing. I have taken several tax classes at Pronto Tax School online to stay updated with current tax law and specialty courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have standard pricing for my services and charge my customers a fair and reasonable price.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started over 30 years ago preparing returns because I was overcharged by my tax preparer to do a simple tax 1040 tax return.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of customers, some have several years of past-due tax returns, some need to amend their returns to correct mistakes and others have a small business. From individuals to married couples, earned income credit and child tax credit, to those classified as 1099 independent contractors, we have worked with them all.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was contacted by a customer whom had custody of his kid but the ex-spouse decided she would file her income taxes before him and claim the son. Once I submitted the tax, it was rejected because the kid's social security was processed on another return. I immediately got proof that the father had custody and several important pieces of documentation and drafted a letter that was submitted with his tax returns that were mailed in. Several weeks later, the customer contacted me at 4:30 am and informed me he received a deposit of his full federal refund and I was just a delighted as he was.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
You would want to make sure the company is registered with the Internal Revenue Service. The person submitting your returns is signing your returns and has a PTIN number (Paid Tax Identification Number) and not going to put on your returns as "Self-Prepared". They need to have several years of experience, be available and have a reachable contact number, reasonable prices, and the ability to e-file the tax returns.
